A Lesson in Oil Spill Clean up
Environmentalist Sheila Street from the BC Ministry of Environment presented to Ms. Comrie’s 8-5 students on hydrofluorocarbons and the consequences of oil spills on our environment. Students had the opportunity to use a variety of materials to experiment with soaking up a simulated oil spill. What did they find? PLASTIC works the best! Why? Plastics are made from oil and its adheres well to…oil. Huge thanks to Ms. Street for sharing her time and expertise with the class!
