Lauren Wilkinson, the rowing Olympian, came to speak to the grade 6s and the Rowing LLE participants yesterday. Students got to try a sprint together on the rowing machine in teams of 15 and they passed around her silver medal from the London Olympics. Afterwards students from the Rowing LLE got to hang out with her while trying their hand at rowing for the first time on the water. The Nelson Rowing Club is having an openhouse at their boathouse at Lakeside this Saturday (May 4th) from 10-2pm for anyone who would like to try it out!
