Truth and Reconciliation Day at Trafalgar
Trafalgar Middle School recognized Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day through a meaningful school-wide assembly that helped students deepen their understanding of the significance of Orange Shirt Day, the importance of Truth and Reconciliation, and the role each of us plays in advancing reconciliation. Students learned about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and explored ways they can be implemented within our school community. In support of Call to Action #62, classes participated in land-based learning activities, including local plant identification and Indigenous language learning opportunities within their classroom cohorts. Other learning experiences focused on resilience, ethical responsibility, and building respectful relationships. Throughout the day, students engaged in thoughtful discussions about reconciliation, and these important conversations will continue to be embedded in classroom learning throughout the school year.
Also, a warm welcome to LA our new school Indigenous Support worker!
